Modular Genetics

Modular Genetics, Inc., incorporated in 2000, was co-founded by Kevin A. Jarrell and Temple F. Smith, two nationally recognized leaders in the fields of genomics and bioinformatics. The company's technology, CombiGenix TM, is a universal system used for designing and creating large sets of engineered genes. Using this technology, the company has developed a high-throughput platform for accelerating the rapid evolution of proteins with novel functions; such technology may also be targeted for use in therapeutic intervention. In addition to its own internal product development efforts, Modular benefits directly from a collaborative research relationship with Monsanto Company. Monsanto has an exclusive license to use Modular's platform for use in agricultural applications. Modular's corporate headquarters, including its research and development facilities, are located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The company is able to operate in an extremely efficient manner due to its automated and high throughput platform.
