The position requires a Ph.D. in molecular biology or a related field. The individual will work as part of a team focused on metabolic pathway engineering in Saccharomyces and other yeasts. Extensive hands-on experience with transformation of linear DNA to generate deletion mutants and insertions is required. Direct experience using automated high throughput engineering methods preferred. The main responsibility of this individual will be to conduct yeast gene engineering experiments in the laboratory. Career development will proceed along either the hands-on R&D path, or the management path, depending on the aptitudes and goals of the individual. Excellent communication and leadership skills are a must.
Modular Genetics is seeking a highly talented and motivated scientist to join its Natural Products Program. The individual will contribute his/her expertise to the fractionation of mixtures of small molecules and further isolation of purified compounds for screening in cancer and arthritis assays. The position requires a solid chemistry background and strong experience in analysis of mass spectrometry data. In addition, the candidate will contribute expertise to Modular's Industrial Biotechnology Program.
